Bryan Aja
Director of Academic Affairs
About
Bryan Aja supervises managers and coordinators in communications, accreditation, and recruitment. His key projects are in faculty personnel, retention and development, curricular planning, course offerings, governance, and just-in-time solutions for the extraordinary scholars who teach on the Oakland campus. His experience as an administrator spans multiple functional areas including departmental coordination, course and program development, service appointments, labor union management, internal grants, assessment, and communications. Prior to that, experience as a lecturer and adjunct made him acutely aware of the efforts of faculty and the ways leadership can aid classroom instruction. His own professional development is currently centered on compliance care and inclusive learning for international students.
Aja has presented papers at conferences in the United States, Canada, and Germany on novels about education, bildungsroman motifs in fiction by immigrant authors, and higher education histories. He taught courses in foreign language pedagogy, surveys of literature, and Viennese modernism. He earned a PhC (ABD) in Germanics from the University of Washington, a MA in Modern Languages and Literatures from San Francisco State, and a BA from Sarah Lawrence. He is currently enrolled in CPS’s graduate program in Higher Education Administration, where courses on agile leadership and strategic enrollment management provide the theoretical foundations for daily applications in the Dean’s Office.
