Dean of the Lorry I. Lokey School of Business and Public Policy
Kate Karniouchina is the Dean of Lorry I. Lokey School of Business and Public Policy. For more than five years, Karniouchina has led the Lokey School through post-financial stabilization restructuring that brought together the business, economics, public policy, and political science departments together under one roof. She oversaw the creation of the new, cohesive vision for the school and facilitated a number of new initiatives including the launch of the undergraduate business administration major, the opening of the MBA and public policy workshops to the broader Oakland community, the developing of career pathways and corporate sponsorships, the forging of a multifaceted partnership with the veteran community, and the creating of entrepreneurship competitions for young women from underserved San Francisco Bay Area high schools.
Karniouchina holds a PhD in marketing, an MBA, and a BA in finance from the University of Utah. Her work has been widely published in academic and industry journals including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Strategy Science, Service Science, Strategic Management Journal, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Cornell Hospitality Quarterly, Journal of Small Business Management, Marketing Letters, Journal of Service Management, European Journal of Operational Research, and others. She is a marketing research/analytics expert who carries out projects for a number of small business, corporate, and government clients.
Karniouchina is a former professional badminton player. These days she stays away from competitive sports, but enjoys playing tennis and skiing with her husband and two children.
